MBWS: share price rises on resilient half-year results

(CercleFinance.com) - Marie Brizard Wine & Spirits shares rose on Friday on the Paris Bourse following the publication of half-year results presented as "resilient" in the face of the slowdown in the spirits market and falling consumer demand.


MBWS said its Ebitda amounted to 8.5 million euros in the first half, an increase of 0.3 million euros (excluding currency effects) compared with the first half of 2023.

Despite the slowdown in growth in the wine and spirits sector, its gross margin rate stood at 38.1% for the first half of 2024, compared with 36.6% at the end of June 2023.

In a press release, the Group justifies this 150-point improvement by its ability to control costs and its commercial rigor.

Sales, already published, came to €94.9 million in the 1st half of 2024, down 3.9% (excluding currency effect) on the 1st half of 2023.

For 2024, the Group says it is committed to maintaining the positive trend of improvement in its Ebitda, although commercial visibility remains limited for the end of the year.

Following this publication, MBWS shares rose by 2% on Friday on the Paris Bourse.
