McDonald's: quarterly dividend to be increased 6%
(CercleFinance.com) - McDonald's announced on Wednesday evening that it would be increasing its quarterly dividend by 6% to $1.
77, the equivalent of a $7.08 annual cash dividend.
The fast-food group says the coupon, which will be paid on 16 December to shareholders on record on 2 December, reflects confidence in its 'Accelerating the Arches' strategic plan and its ability to generate long-term profitable growth.
McDonald's points out that since the introduction of its first dividend payment in 1976, it has steadily increased the amount of its dividend over the past 48 years.
While it intends to invest in opportunities that will enable it to grow its business and sustain its profitability, the American group also states its ambition to redistribute its cash flow to its shareholders, not only in the form of dividends but also via share buybacks.
McDonald's shares were expected to be little changed (+0.1%) on Thursday morning on the New York Stock Exchange despite these announcements.
