Rolls-Royce: sells Naval Propulsors & Handling business

(CercleFinance.com) - Rolls-Royce has reached an agreement to sell its Naval Propulsors & Handling business to Fairbanks Morse Defense.

The sale includes the naval propulsion units in Pascagoula, Mississippi and Walpole, Massachusetts, US, as well as the specialized naval handling systems unit in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.

The Naval Thrusters and Handling business manufactures and supports a range of specialized propellers and waterjets for naval applications, as well as specialized handling systems that enable the deployment and retrieval of manned and unmanned craft, and other cargo, from warships.

Rolls-Royce will retain its naval gas turbine and generator set businesses, which provide power-dense solutions for naval propulsion and on-board power requirements.

Rolls-Royce Naval Propulsors & Handling is an industry leader and trusted supplier to navies worldwide. We are pleased to be working with Fairbanks Morse Defense, which recognizes the value of this business and the outstanding opportunities for its strong future, said Adam Riddle, President of Defense and President and CEO of Rolls-Royce North America.
