GTT: order for 6 ultra-high-capacity ethane tankers

(CercleFinance.com) - In Q3, GTT announced that it had received an order from the Chinese shipyard Jiangnan Shipyard to design the tanks for six ultra-large ethane carriers (ULECs), on behalf of Eastern Pacific Shipping.


The Group will design the tanks for these ground-breaking ULECs, each with a capacity of 150,000 m³, the largest ever built for the transport of ethane. The tanks will incorporate the Mark III membrane containment system developed by GTT.

The vessels are scheduled for delivery between Q1 and Q3 2027. This order represents a world first for the construction of ethane carriers of this size, exceeding the usual 99,000 m³ capacity of VLECs.
