Thales: chosen for new French ground-air systems

(CercleFinance.com) - Thales announced on Wednesday evening that it will contribute to the production of new medium-range ground-to-air systems for the French Air and Space Force.


Each of the seven sections of these additional new-generation SAMP/T NGs will be based on Thales's GF300 active, rotary, multifunction electronically scanned radar.

The contract, formalised by the French Ministry of the Armed Forces, will also be based on a Thales-developed ME-NG engagement module.

For Hervé Dammann, Thales' deputy general manager in charge of land and air systems, the agreement reinforces the defense electronics manufacturer's role as a "trusted partner" of the French Air Force.

The SAMP/T NG project has been under development since 2021 as part of a cooperation between Italy and France.

In all, the French air and space forces will now benefit from eight SAMP/T NGs.
