Siemens signs strategic partnership with Merck

(CercleFinance.com) - German pharmaceutical group Merck announced on Monday the signing of a strategic partnership with Siemens aimed at using digital transformation to improve the efficiency of its production processes.


Under the terms of the memorandum of understanding, Siemens will become Merck's preferred supplier of smartfacturing for its three core businesses (pharmaceuticals, life sciences and electronics).

The two partners - who point out that they have been working together for 145 years - explain that their objective is to accelerate the time-to-market of products, at more efficient costs, but also to focus on sustainable development.

This collaboration will be based in particular on the Siemens Xcelerator industrial software platform, with the aim of transforming Merck's engineering and manufacturing processes.
