Alstom: testing parcel delivery by tramway in Strasbourg

(CercleFinance.com) - Alstom is taking part in a tramway parcel delivery experiment in Strasbourg.


From September 16 to October 26, 2024, a tramway parcel delivery experiment will be carried out on line B of Strasbourg's public transport network.

In practice, the experiment will involve transporting Colissimo parcels via tramway B. The route will run from Hoenheim Gare station to Broglie station, in the heart of downtown Strasbourg. At 9:00 a.m., a letter carrier will accompany around 100 parcels in the tramway's lead car. Once at Broglie, a second postman will load the parcels onto a cargo bike for distribution in Strasbourg's inner city. During the trial, a second circuit will be added in the early afternoon.

This initiative is being carried out by La Poste, Alstom, the Eurométropole de Strasbourg and the Compagnie de Transports Strasbourgeois (CTS).

It aims to explore new parcel delivery solutions, optimizing the available capacities of the existing transport infrastructure.
