Ericsson: creation of API joint venture

(CercleFinance.com) - América Móvil, AT&T, Bharti Airtel, Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Reliance Jio, Singtel, Telefonica, Telstra, T-Mobile, Verizon and Vodafone and Ericsson announce a new venture to combine and sell network application programming interfaces (APIs) worldwide.


Ericsson will hold 50% of the company's shares, while the telecom providers will hold a total of 50%.

Network APIs are the means to easily access, use and pay for network capabilities. The company will promote the implementation and access of common APIs from multiple telecom service providers to a wider ecosystem of development platforms.

'The new company will combine network APIs on a global scale, with the idea that new applications will work anywhere and on any network, making it easier and faster for developers to innovate' it says.
