TF1: death of sports journalist Didier Roustan

(CercleFinance.com) - TF1 announced on Wednesday the death of journalist Didier Roustan, the former presenter of its flagship program Téléfoot, without however specifying the causes of his death.


In a press release, the television group hailed Didier Roustan as a "historic figure" of the channel, having joined TF1's sports department in 1976 before helping to create Téléfoot in 1977.

He went on to become a household name by presenting the program, which he directed and hosted until 1989.

He left an indelible mark on the program and its viewers, with his extraordinary reporting, his love of the Golden Ball and his great expertise in soccer", says the channel.

"Keen to pass on his passion, he also mentored and developed many young journalists", adds TF1.

The L'Equipe channel - for which Didier Roustan had become a key contributor - hails him as a 'crazy journalist with a thousand lives and a unique outlook'.

It adds that the presenter passed away at the age of 66, on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, after a 'short and relentless illness'.
