Mauna Kea: share price soars on strong US support

(CercleFinance.com) - Mauna Kea's share price climbed 15% on Wednesday morning on the Paris Bourse, after the company won the support of the American Foregut Society (AFS) professional association for coverage of its imaging platform by payers in the United States.

The AFS, a group of gastroenterologists and surgeons, has formally requested that health insurers update their coverage policies to include the Cellvizio device and confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLE).

We are convinced that widespread access to the Cellvizio procedure will provide healthcare professionals with an essential tool for high endoscopy for the early detection of Barrett's esophagus and esophageal cancer', writes Reginald Bell, Chairman of the AFS Board of Directors, in a letter.

The AFS highlights the strong clinical data supporting the use of Cellvizio as a detection tool in addition to a standard endoscopy procedure, leading it to request its coverage by payers.

Sacha Loiseau, Mauna Kea's CEO, welcomed the move, pointing out that the AFS is the largest association of leading specialists in upper digestive tract diseases.

'We look forward to working with payers to expand Cellvizio's coverage and, ultimately, widen patient access to our state-of-the-art imaging platform', he said.
