Verallia: inaugurates 100% electric furnace

(CercleFinance.com) - Verallia, the world's third-largest producer of glass packaging, has inaugurated the first 100% electric furnace, at its Cognac plant.


'With a 60% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to a traditional furnace, this technological innovation is part of the Group's ambitious decarbonization strategy and marks a decisive step towards a more sustainable future for the glass industry' says the group.

The Group is aiming for a 46% reduction in its emissions (scopes 1and 2) by 2030 compared with 2019.

The Group has announced the construction of its first 100% electric glass furnace in 2021, at an investment of 57 million euros.
