UPS: cold chain acquisition in Germany
(CercleFinance.com) - American freight forwarding giant UPS announced on Tuesday that it has acquired German refrigeration specialist Frigo-Trans, with a view to strengthening its position in pharmaceutical logistics.
In a press release, the carrier explains that the operation will enable it to strengthen its fleet of temperature-controlled vehicles in Europe, in order to meet the significant needs of its customers in the healthcare sector.
Frigo-Trans vehicles are designed to transport products at different temperature ranges, from cryopreservation (-196 degrees celsius) to ambient (between 15 and 25 degrees).
The financial terms of the acquisition, which also includes Frigo-Trans' GLP subsidiary, have not been disclosed, but the deal is expected to be finalized during the first quarter of 2025.
