AT&T: prepares to expand its fiber network in the United States
(CercleFinance.com) - AT&T announces an expansion of its fiber network to serve more homes and locations in the United States.
To increase its fiber coverage, AT&T is adopting a variety of economically attractive models to complement its expanding organic fiber network.
These models include: the Gigapower joint venture with BlackRock, via a fund managed by its Diversified Infrastructure business; commercial open access agreements; and public-private partnerships supported by federal funding via programs such as BEAD.
AT&T already serves over 8.8 million fiber customers and covers more than 28 million sites.
AT&T plans to expand Gigapower and explore new growth areas.
''We are seeing increasing returns and are targeting new areas to meet the demand for wireless and broadband services from a single provider,'' said AT&T executive John Stankey.
