Beiersdorf: partnership with American Macro Biologics

(CercleFinance.com) - German group Beiersdorf, maker of Nivea cream, announced on Wednesday the signing of a multi-year partnership with US company Macro Biologics to develop biodegradable peptides with antimicrobial properties.


Their collaboration agreement is to revolve around the amicidin technology developed by the Californian company, and in particular around its activity against bacteria and its applications in protecting infected wounds.

In a press release, Beiersdorf and Macro Biologics state that they intend to develop a range of dermatological and healthcare products to be marketed by Beiersdorf.

At the same time, the Hamburg-based cosmetics group will become a shareholder in Macro Biologics via an equity investment made through its venture capital subsidiary Oscar & Paul.
