Colas: big contract for Cairo metro

(CercleFinance.com) - The consortium of Colas Rail (leader), Orascom Construction and Hitachi Rail has signed a contract with the Egyptian National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) for the renovation of line 1 of the Cairo metro, worth a total of around E850m, 35% of which is for Colas Rail.


Colas Rail will work with Orascom to modernise the electrical power, catenary, electromechanical systems in stations and tunnels, as well as the track.

Meanwhile, Hitachi Rail will modernise the signalling, control and telecommunications infrastructures.
