Halliburton: victim of a cyber attack

(CercleFinance.com) - In a filing with the SEC, Halliburton reports that an unauthorized third party gained access to some of its IT systems, resulting in disruptions and limited access to parts of the applications.


The oilfield services group has activated its cybersecurity response plan, including proactively taking some systems offline to help protect them, and has launched an internal investigation to assess the affected data.

It believes the unauthorized third party accessed and exfiltrated information from the affected systems, and Halliburton may continue to incur some expenses related to its response to this incident, about which it is communicating with stakeholders.

To date, it believes that the incident is not reasonably likely to have a material impact on its financial condition or results of operations, but warns that it remains exposed to various risks associated with the incident, including potential litigation.
