Nokia: speculation eases over mobile business

(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia has put an end to speculation surrounding the future of its mobile networks business by reaffirming its commitment to this "highly strategic" division.


Its shares fell by 0.5% this morning in Paris, after rising over 5% on Thursday, following press reports that Korea's Samsung was one of the potential buyers interested in the company's wireless division.

In reaction to this information published by Bloomberg, Nokia last night said that it had nothing to declare concerning this speculation, and that no project along these lines was currently in the pipeline.

The Finnish equipment manufacturer also said it was committed to ensuring the success of its mobile networks business, an asset that it considers as highly strategic.

The group points out that the business has made significant progress in reducing costs, winning new contracts and increasing market share with existing customers.
