Coca-Cola leads Dow Jones, Morgan Stanley optimistic
(CercleFinance.com) - On Tuesday, Coca-Cola posted the second biggest rise in the Dow Jones index, buoyed by a note from Morgan Stanley which singled out the stock in a study of the soft drinks sector.
At the end of the morning, the soda maker was up by around 0.6%, while the index of the 30 leading US stocks was broadly unchanged.
In its study, Morgan Stanley indicates that it has raised its price target for the stock from $70 to $78, making it its new top pick in the sector, at the expense of PepsiCo.
The research firm, which has an "overweight" recommendation on the stock, points out that it has been increasingly optimistic about the group in recent months, in view of its solid price control, the strength of its international business and its market share gains.
