Uber: fined in the Netherlands

(CercleFinance.com) - The Dutch Data Protection Authority has announced that it has fined Uber E290m for a serious breach of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which the platform has, however, put a stop to in the meantime.

It found that Uber had transferred personal data of European cab drivers to the US for more than two years and had not adequately protected the data with regard to these transfers.

It states that this included not only account data and cab licenses, but also location data, photos, payment data, identity documents and, in some cases, even drivers' criminal and medical data.
