Nike: Pershing Square acquires a stake

(CercleFinance.com) - Pershing Square Capital Management has acquired a stake in the Nike group worth around $229 million, according to a financial notice published last night.


In a so-called '13F' form filed on Wednesday with the SEC, the US stock market regulator, the investment company states that it holds exactly 3,040,132 shares in the sports equipment manufacturer.

This makes it the ninth and last shareholding held by Bill Ackman's New York fund, behind its much larger investments in Hilton ($1.9 billion), Chipotle ($1.8 billion) and Alphabet ($1.4 billion).

Nike shares gained 4% early Thursday following the announcement.
