AkzoNobel: helped renovate Malacca in Malaysia

(CercleFinance.com) - The historic city of Malacca, Malaysia, has been repainted by AkzoNobel to help preserve the culture and identity of the UNESCO World Heritage site.

As well as developing a special shade of red to freshen up the Stadthuys (town hall) and surrounding buildings in the old town square, the company's Dulux products were also used to coat store fronts along the Malacca River.

Malacca is expected to welcome around 19 million visitors this year and will host World Tourism Day in 2025.

' These buildings are a symbol of the past, but they are also an expression of the multicultural tradition and architecture of the time, which is why people look at them with affection and cherish them as part of their heritage.

' But this project isn't just about preserving the buildings. It will also help create economic opportunities for the local community and create long-term benefits by attracting tourism.'
