KPN: 2nd quarter results ahead of expectations
(CercleFinance.com) - Dutch telecom operator KPN reported better-than-expected quarterly results on Wednesday, thanks to the strength of its consumer and business activities.
Its current operating profit after rent, known as "Ebitda AL" - a key industry metric - rose by 6% in the second quarter, to 629 million euros, against a consensus forecast of 622 million provided by the company.
Its sales rose by 4.5% to 1.39 billion euros, against an average analyst forecast of 1.38 billion.
The group - which recently completed the acquisition of virtual operator Youfone - claims to have benefited from the dynamism of its consumer activities, led by mobile telephony and fiber, but also highlights its solid positioning with SMEs.
KPN is also confident of achieving its 2024 annual targets, an optimism that did not prevent it from falling by more than 2% on the Amsterdam stock exchange on Wednesday.
