Amazon: new sales record broken for 'Prime Day

(CercleFinance.com) - Amazon announced on Thursday that it had achieved "record" sales during its Prime Day promotion, which took place over the past two days.


Without disclosing specific figures, the online retail giant said that it had never sold so many items during Prime events it had previously organized.

The Seattle-based group noted - again without publishing specific data - that members of its Prime preferential program were thus able to save several billion during the two days of offers.

It adds that millions of new members had decided to join the program in the three weeks leading up to the event in order to take advantage of the discounts on offer.

Among the most popular brands this year were Sol de Janeiro beauty products, Apple appliances, Dyson vacuum cleaners and Ring video doorbells.

Amazon adds that its partner sellers - most of which are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) - sold over 200 million items during the two days of promotional offers.
