Holcim: purchase of Belgian recycler Mark Desmedt

(CercleFinance.com) - Holcim announces that it has finalised the acquisition of Belgian recycler Mark Desmedt, with the idea of advancing circular construction in Europe, in line with its goal of recycling 10 million tonnes of construction demolition materials per year.


As a leading recycler of construction demolition materials in Belgium, Mark Desmedt recycles over 500,000 tonnes a year, and is strategically located to serve Belgium's two largest metropolitan areas, Brussels and Antwerp.

"Mark Desmedt will scale up our ECOCycle® technology across Belgium, making circularity a driver of profitable growth", said Miljan Gutovic, Holcim's CEO.

Holcim says this is its fourth acquisition this year aimed at developing circular construction as a profitable growth driver, following Cand-Landi in Switzerland, Land Recovery in the UK and Mendiger Basalt in Germany.
