USA: slight rise in jobless claims

(CercleFinance.com) - Weekly jobless claims rose slightly in the USA in the week to July 29, in a further sign of easing in the labor market.


Claims rose to 238,000 from a revised 234,000 the previous week, according to figures released by the Labor Department on Thursday.

Claims for the week to June 22 were revised up by 1,000 from an initial estimate of 233,000.000.

The four-week moving average rose to 238,500, compared with 236,250 the previous week.

Finally, the number of people receiving regular benefits rose by 26,000 to 1,858 in the week to June 22, the latest week for which these figures are available, the highest since November 2021.
