BMW: new press shop launched in the USA

(CercleFinance.com) - BMW has launched a new press shop at its Spartanburg site in the USA, as part of a €200 million investment that will create more than 200 jobs.

The new press shop, covering some 200,000000 m2, will initially be dedicated to the manufacture of parts for the new BMW X3, due for release this autumn.

It will produce, among other things, exterior body components, doors and tailgates for the fourth generation of the compact SUV, one of the German automotive group's best-sellers in the USA.

In a press release, BMW states that it does not intend to assemble electric vehicles in the United States before 2026.

For your information, the automaker is celebrating this year the 30th anniversary of its Spartanburg (South Carolina) plant, which employs more than 11,000 people and has assembled some 6.7 million vehicles since its opening, the equivalent of 1,500 per day.
