Capgemini: long-term agreement with Equigy in the energy sector

(CercleFinance.com) - Capgemini announced on Thursday the signature of a long-term agreement with Equigy, a European cross-border platform in the energy sector.

Under the terms of the contract, the French technology group will be responsible for developing a new decentralized energy system to manage electricity supply and demand in Europe more efficiently.

Equigy is a project launched by six major European transmission system operators: Austrian Power Grid, TenneT Germany, TenneT Netherlands, Terna, TransnetBW, and Swissgrid.

This platform specializes in the use of small-scale, distributed energy resources, such as electric vehicles or household batteries.

In a press release, Capgemini explains that it intends to develop an interface that will help reduce dependence on traditional centralized power plants by giving priority to renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power.

To achieve this, the company intends to draw on, among other things, its ecosystem of partners, as well as its data and AI capabilities.
