KBC: new CFO appointed

(CercleFinance.com) - Bartel Puelinckx was appointed CFO of KBC on Tuesday morning to succeed Luc Popelier, who will shortly take over as CEO of Hamburg Commercial Bank.


The executive's appointment will take effect on September 1, subject to the approval of the National Bank of Belgium and the European Central Bank (ECB).

A graduate in economics and law, Puelinckx joined KBC Bank in 2002 and was, between 2010 and 2014, CFO of CSOB, KBC's Czech banking subsidiary.

In 2016, he became Managing Director of KBC Securities, the investment division of the KBC group, and in 2019, Managing Director of Compliance for the entire group.

Luc Popelier, who has been CFO of the Belgian banking group since 2021, explains that he has accepted a 'unique' career opportunity by becoming the new Managing Director of Hamburg Commercial Bank (HCOB) as of September 1.
