The executive's appointment will take effect on 1 September, subject to approval by the National Bank of Belgium and the European Central Bank (ECB).
Puelinckx joined KBC Bank in 2002 and was, between 2010 and 2014, CFO of CSOB, KBC's Czech banking subsidiary.
In 2016, he became Managing Director of KBC Securities, the investment division of the KBC Group, and in 2019 Chief Compliance Officer for the entire Group.
Luc Popelier, who had been CFO of the Belgian banking group since 2021, explains for his part that he has agreed to seize a "unique" career opportunity by becoming the new CEO of Hamburg Commercial Bank (HCOB) as of 1 September.
