BASF extends collaboration with Heidelberg University

(CercleFinance.com) - BASF announces the extension of its collaboration with the University of Heidelberg (Germany) for a further five years, until 2028.
The partners jointly operate a Catalysis Research Laboratory (CaRLa) with the aim of developing new processes for homogeneous catalysis and organic synthesis.

'Basic research in the field of homogeneous catalysis is important to BASF, as it helps us to develop chemical processes that require less energy and generate less waste. CaRLa is therefore an important cornerstone in enabling us to achieve BASF's sustainability goals', said Dr Helmut Winterling, BASF Group President Research.

'Since 2015, 18 projects have been transferred to BASF Research, where they are being developed for industrial applications. CaRLa thus represents a successful collaboration between academic and industrial research', the executive recalled.
