Michelin: restructures operations in Germany
(CercleFinance.com) - Michelin announces the gradual shutdown of production at its German sites in Karlsruhe and Trier, as well as the production of new tyres and semi-finished products in Homburg.
It will also transfer the customer service centre from Karlsruhe to Poland. This decision stems from increasing competition from low-cost truck tyres and a deterioration in the competitiveness of its German activities for its European and export markets, it says. A total of 1,532 employees are affected by these operations, which should be completed by the end of 2025. Michelin will record a provision of around E425m in its 2023 results.
