Lockheed Martin: breakthrough in in-orbit sensors
(CercleFinance.com) - Lockheed Martin is set to launch a single broadband Electronic Scanning Antenna (ESA) payload demonstrator in the near future.
The aims to showcase its advances in cutting-edge technology for faster mission completion once in orbit.
Based on an "innovative and exclusive" design, the new sensor can be calibrated in a fraction of the time required for traditional in-orbit sensors. Historically, it can take months to power up, calibrate and make sensors operational.
This technology is crucial for future remote sensing architectures, assures Lockheed.
The payload demonstrator is scheduled for launch in December aboard a Firefly Aerospace Alpha rocket as part of the agreement with Lockheed Martin, as announced in June.
