Ryanair to reduce flights to Portugal in 2024
(CercleFinance.com) - Ryanair is to reduce air transport to Madeira and cut traffic to Faro and Porto from 2024.
This follows ANA's decision to increase airport taxes by up to 17% from 2024, in particular on Lisbon (+17%), Faro (+12%), Porto (+11%), Azores (+9%) and Madeira (+6%).
These excessive increases in the monopoly of the French-owned airport, ANA, are hurting tourism and business in Portugal, particularly in the island economies of Madeira and the Azores," says the group.
' In Lisbon, passenger taxes have increased by +50% since 2019, and most European airports have reduced their taxes in line with Covid ' adds Raynair.
