Soitec: inaugurates new plant near to Grenoble

(CercleFinance.com) - Soitec announces the inauguration of a new plant in Bernin, in the heart of its historic birthplace in the Grésivaudan region near Grenoble, dedicated to the production of SmartSiC substrates for new-generation electric vehicles.


Based on silicon carbide (SiC), SmartSiC technology improves the efficiency of energy conversion systems, enabling reduced power losses, better thermal management and increased power density.

Covering an area of 2,500 m2, the plant will eventually have produce up to 500,000 SmartSiC wafers per year. It will contribute to Soitec's sustainable growth strategy, and will ultimately create almost 400 direct jobs.
