BlackRock: EU clears Gigapower deal
(CercleFinance.com) - The European Commission announced that it has cleared the acquisition of joint control of Gigapower by BlackRock and AT&T.
Gigapower, which is currently controlled by AT&T, is a joint venture that will design, build, own and operate wholesale access to fiber networks in the US. BlackRock manages investments in the digital, transportation, energy and power infrastructure value chain, amongst others. AT&T is a provider of communications and technology services. The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not give rise to any competition concerns as Gigapower will not be active in the European Economic Area.
