Verizon: allocates funds from 'green' bond issue

(CercleFinance.com) - On Wednesday Verizon detailed the allocation of funds raised last year under its first "green" bond issue, which amounted to nearly 1 billion dollars.

Out of this amount, the US mobile operator said that it has spent 637 million dollars on renewable energy, while releasing 319 million dollars for sustainable building projects, also earmarking 37 million dollars for energy efficiency and has spent 1 million dollars to protect biodiversity.

In February 2019, Verizon became the first US telecom group to issue green bonds.

In a separate statement, Verizon also said that it has entered into a series of renewable energy purchase agreements as part of its aim to become CO2 neutral by 2035.
