Pfizer: positive results for pneumococcal vaccine

(CercleFinance.com) - Pfizer on Wednesday announced "positive" results from its Phase 3 study evaluating the efficacy of its Prevnar 20 pneumococcal vaccine in the elderly when given at the same time as the seasonal flu vaccine.


The US pharma giant says the study showed non-inferiority of co-administration of both vaccines compared to a vaccine schedule that separated the two injections within a month.

The trial, conducted at 66 sites in the US, included a total of 1,796 participants over the age of 65.

Pfizer has said that it also began a Phase 3 clinical trial in May to measure the efficacy of Prevnar 20 when administered at the same time as Comirnaty, its Covid vaccine.
