Microsoft: CMA ready to authorise Activision takeover

(CercleFinance.com) - On Friday, the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) said that it is satisfied with the concessions proposed by Microsoft as part of its proposed takeover of Activision, paving the way for a forthcoming authorisation of this transaction, estimated at $70bn.

The British competition authority considers that the proposals submitted by the US IT giant could well alleviate the competition problems that it had previously identified in the online video games market.

For the record, France's Ubisoft signed an agreement last month granting it cloud streaming rights for Activision-Blizzard's flagship game, Call of Duty.

The CMA's final decision is expected around 6 October.
