Ford: rolls out exoskeleton technology at plants

(CercleFinance.com) - US auto giant Ford is rolling out Exoskeleton wearable technology to help reduce worker fatigue, and injuries, the company said on Tuesday.


Ford is rolling out a new wearable "EksoVest" that helps reduce injury risk in workers after its successful trial in two plants, the carmaker said.

Employees at 15 plants and seven countries will be able to use the vest to help cut the physical toll on their body, Ford said.

The wearable provides lift assistance from five pounds to 15 pounds per arm.

The vest, developped with partner Ekso Bionics, supports a worker's arms while performing overhead tasks, such as reaching up with a tool to screw bolts.
