Apple expands partnership with Amkor

(CercleFinance.com) - Apple announced today that it will be the first and largest customer of Amkor's new packaging manufacturing plant, currently under development in Peoria, Arizona.

Amkor will package Apple silicon produced at the nearby TSMC plant, of which Apple is also the largest customer.

'Apple is deeply committed to the future of American manufacturing, and we will continue to increase our investments here in the United States,' said Jeff Williams, Apple's COO.

Apple and Amkor have drawn up plans to build the largest outsourced advanced packaging plant in America. Amkor will invest approximately $2 billion in the project and will ultimately employ more than 2,000 employees.

Apple's investments in advanced manufacturing are part of the company's 2021 commitment to invest $430 billion in the U.S. economy over five years.

Today, Apple is on track to meet its goal through direct spending with U.S. suppliers, data center investments, U.S.-based capital expenditures and other domestic spending.
