Ericsson: 'revolutionary' 5G solution with Vodafone

(CercleFinance.com) - Ericsson has announced that it has managed to halve the energy consumption of Vodafone's 5G radio wave network in London, a test deemed "revolutionary" by both partners.


Carried out on the roof of the Speechmark - Vodafone UK's central office in London - the deployment of Ericsson's integrated antenna radio solution (AIR 3227) has reduced the daily energy consumption of the Vodafone network by an average of 43% and up to 55% during off-peak hours.

The success of this trial allows Vodafone to explore new ways to manage its network energy consumption more efficiently with its partner Ericsson, Vodafone said.
