Stellantis: shipments down 20% in Q3

(CercleFinance.com) - On Wednesday, Stellantis reported a 20% drop in shipments for Q3, due to the combined effect of its inventory reduction efforts and the ongoing launch of new products.

The automotive group reports that its consolidated shipments came to 1.148 million units for the three months ended 30 September, compared with 1.427 million a year earlier.

The term shipments refers to vehicle volumes delivered to the network and fleet sales, which directly determine revenue recognition.

The decline in shipments was more severe than that of underlying end-customer sales, which fell by 15% over the period, again against a backdrop of product portfolio transition and dealer inventory reductions.

In North America, shipments fell by 36%, pending the release of the Dodge Daytona and Jeep Wagoneer S at the end of 2024, according to Stellantis.

The automaker's market share in the US nevertheless showed month-on-month improvement in Q3, rising from 7.2% in July to 7.9% in August and then 8% in September, as dealers attempt to clear their inventories.

In Europe, shipments fell by 17% due to delayed launches, including the Citroën C3, even though the Group is citing solid launch prospects, including the new Peugeot 3008.

Following these announcements, Stellantis shares lost around 1% on Wednesday morning on the Paris Bourse, bringing their decline over the last six months to over 50%.
