easyJet: revenues reassure, but costs don't

(CercleFinance.com) - On Tuesday easyJet reported higher-than-expected quarterly revenues, but also higher-than-expected costs due to the "disruption" associated with the sharp upturn in air traffic.

Europe's second-largest low-cost airline's revenue rose to over 1.75 billion pounds in Q3 to end-June, compared with just 213 million pounds in the same period last year.

The UK carrier said it expects to make a pre-tax loss of 114 million pounds in the quarter, including 133 million pounds of additional expenses caused by the current "disruptions" in the industry that often cause flight delays.

Over the quarter, the group carried 22 million passengers, seven times more than a year ago, with capacity now at 87% of what it operated in 2019, before the health crisis.
