Diageo: soon to make paper bottles for spirits

(CercleFinance.com) - The British spirits giant Diageo announced on Monday the launch of an initiative to develop a paper bottle concept for its spirit brands.


The owner of Smirnoff vodka and Guinness beer says that it has joined forces with the Pilot Lite joint venture to develop the plastic-free, fully recyclable packaging called "Pulpex Limited", which would be made from sustainable wood sources.

Diageo says that it plans to launch the first paper bottle for its Johnnie Walker whisky brand in early 2021.

According to the spirits group, other sector players - such as PepsiCo and Unilever - are also looking into this technology.
