Saint-Gobain: takes minority stake in Megasol

(CercleFinance.com) - Saint-Gobain and solar manufacturer Megasol, the European leader in building-integrated solar modules (BIPV), have announced a strategic partnership.


Under the terms of the partnership, Saint-Gobain has acquired a minority stake in Megasol's BIPV module development and production business at its Deitingen site in Switzerland.

This partnership enables Saint-Gobain to expand its offering of sustainable façade solutions and to become the leading supplier of BIPV façade solutions in Europe. It also gives Saint-Gobain customers access to Megasol.

It said that BIPV solutions make a strong contribution to sustainable construction and decarbonisation by producing energy very efficiently on roofs and vertical facades of buildings. They not only enable building owners to comply with current and future regulations and increase their own energy efficiency, but also generate additional revenue by supplying electricity to the grid.
