Bouygues: to build Potomac River Tunnel In Washington

(CercleFinance.com) - DC Water has selected the CBNA-Halmar Clean Rivers consortium, a joint venture between CBNA (Bouygues Construction's US subsidiary) and Halmar International, for the design-build contract for the Potomac River Tunnel.


This is a major environmental project designed to prevent overflows from the sewage infrastructure and improve the water quality of the Potomac River in Washington DC. The project is worth $819m (E758m).

The project aims to collect and store combined sewer overflows and stormwater from the city of Washington DC, before routing it to the Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant operated by DC Water in Blue Plains.

The main tunnel is 8.9 km long, 5.5 m wide and around 30 m deep.
