Nokia: prize awarded to quantum computing researcher
(CercleFinance.com) - Nokia's foundation said it has granted its 2020 recognition award to Mikko Möttönen, a Finnish professor, for his contributions to quantum computing research.
Nokia said recent innovations in quantum mechanics have paved the way towards the development of commercial applications of quantum computing, which is expected to revolutionise traditional electric communications and computing.
Möttönen, a professor of quantum technology at Aalto University and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, is the co-founder of the quantum computer company IQM.
The 40-year old researcher was honored last night at the foundation's annual award ceremony, that was hosted as a virtual event for the first time.
