IAG: traffic boosted by Iberia last month

(CercleFinance.com) - International Airlines Group posted a 4.
8% rise in October traffic - measured in revenue passenger kilometres - led by a buoyant performance from Spanish carrier Iberia, which benefited from its routes to Latin America and the Caribbean.

The airline group said it carried 10.36 million passengers last month, up 3.4% from the 10.03 million passengers of October 2018, while its load factor - a measure of how the company fills its planes - was up 1.7% at 85%, it said on Friday.

British Airways' October traffic rose by 2.8%, clearly hit by recent strikes, significantly below the 8.3% rise at Iberia.

IAG shares, which have fallen by over 12% so far this year, were down 0.6% at 541.4 pence, valuing the group at around 10.8 billion pounds.
