Siemens: hydrogen production plant in Germany

(CercleFinance.com) - The German industrial group Siemens announced on Friday that it has signed a contract to supply one of the largest hydrogen production complexes in Germany.

The agreement covers the construction in Wunsiedel, a town in northern Bavaria, of a carbon neutral power station with a capacity of six megawatts (MW).

This plant, which will manufacture hydrogen by electrolysis, should initially produce 900 tonnes per year, with the aim of eventually reaching 2,000 tonnes per year.

Its commissioning is scheduled for the end of 2021.

For the record, Germany is aiming to become greenhouse gas emission neutral by 2050.
