Deutsche Post: upbeat after first-quarter 'as expected'

(CercleFinance.com) - Deutsche Post has confirmed its 2019 earnings forecasts after the first quarter "played out as expected," the German express delivery and mail company said on Friday.

The Bonn-based group said that it achieved growth in all its five divisions in the past quarter, leading to a 4.1% increase in revenue to 15.4 billion euros.

Operating profit rose by 28% to 1.2 billion euros.

"We are performing according to plan and are on track towards achieving our targets," said CEO Frank Appel.

Deutsche Post DHL has maintained its projection of growth in operating profit to between 3.9 billion euros and 4.3 billion euros this year.

With e-commerce continuing to boom worldwide, it is also on track towards its target of generating over 5 billion euros in EBIT in 2020, it said.

Yet, the Frankfurt-listed shares were down 0.6% after this report.
